Navel Orange Donuts

I’m a fan of the shortcut, especially for breakfasts during the week when I can see we are all getting bored of milk and cereal. This quick switch-up requires a little bit of prep and bakes in no time at all. And the bonus is that these citrus beauties can absolutely be made ahead of time. Store the donuts in the fridge or the counter. Breakfast switch-up done. My secret ingredient? Pancake mix.

Navel Orange Baked Donuts

Ingredients:

Donuts:

1 cup pancake mix (the kind where water is the only other ingredient)
1/3 cup fresh squeezed orange juice
1/3 cup water

Glaze:

1/4 cup fresh squeezed orange juice
2 cups powdered sugar
Orange food coloring
Orange zest

Instructions:

  1. Preheat oven to 350° Fahrenheit.
  2. Mix pancake mix, orange juice and water together in medium bowl.
  3. Spray donut pan and add pancake mix to pan.
  4. Bake donuts for 12-15 minutes.
  5. Make the glaze by mixing the powdered sugar, orange juice, food coloring and zest.
  6. Wait for donuts to cool completely to then pour glaze over the donuts.
  7. Optional: top with candied orange pieces.
