Brown Butter Mashed Potatoes

If you’re looking for a delicious, rich mashed potato dish, this brown butter mashed potatoes will be the perfect side dish to your next fall meal.

Ingredients:

4 Russet potatoes
1 stick butter
1 cup warmed whole milk
1 teaspoon ground sage
salt and pepper

Instructions:

  1. Melt the stick of butter in a pan over medium heat. Once the melted butter begins to bubble vigorously, cook for another 5 minutes, swirling and stirring occasionally, until the bubbles slow down and turn into foam. At the bottom of the pan, you’ll start to see toasty brown flecks. Take off the heat and let it sit to the side to cool.
  2. Peel and cut your potatoes. Place potatoes in cold, salted water. Turn on stove and bring to boil. Boil until the potatoes are fork-tender.
  3. When they are fork-tender, turn off the heat, drain the potatoes and return back to the hot pot, heat still off.
  4. To the potatoes, add your warmed milk, sage and browned butter and blend with a hand mixer (my favorite) on low (or mash).
  5. Once it’s at the preferred consistency you like, taste it and start to add in salt and pepper to your liking.
